St. Philip Neri Mission Statement

e the Catholic Community of St. Philip Neri Parish are people of different ages, talents and cultural backgrounds. We believe that each of us is called by baptism to continue the Mission of Jesus Christ.

     We exist to bring God to the people and the people to God, by sharing the Good News of God’s Love and ministering to the needs of others.

     As a faith community we are called, challenged and empowered to minister by comforting, healing, loving, and serving others within the parish, the South Shore Community, the city of Chicago, and the world. We respond to our call by:

  • Worshiping God as a Eucharistic community;
  • Enabling spiritual growth;
  • Presenting an image of Christian love and faith to the community;
  • Reaching out to the inactive Catholic and the unchurched;
  • Providing personal affirmation and support;
  • Creating close fellowship;
  • Reaching out through parish organizations to aid parishioners and others in the community;
  • Striving for peace and justice in the world;
  • Educating ourselves and others;
  • Sharing in the responsibility, by stewardship, in providing the resources to carry on our ministry.

Location

Built in 1928 by Joseph W.  McCarthy, St. Philip Neri Church is a wonderful example of "Modern Tudor Gothic" architecture.  Its vaulted ceilings, prolific paintings and jewel-toned stain glass windows are awe-inspiring.

Now home to a vibrant and committed congregation, St. Philip Neri also houses string music classes, a choir, and a community string orchestra. Also on church campus is the  St. Philip Neri Catholic School.

Please plan on joining us for a music and inspiration-filled mass service soon."
